The Beginner's Guide to Setting Up a Hookah

Smoking a hookah has become a popular pastime for people of all ages, and for good reason. Hookah smoking is a social activity that can be enjoyed with friends, and the range of flavors available means there's something for everyone. But if you've never smoked a hookah before, the process can seem daunting. So, we're here to help you out with a beginner's guide to setting up a hookah.

1. What is a hookah?

A hookah is a water pipe used to smoke tobacco. The pipe and tobacco are often passed around in groups, making it a social activity. The hookah originated in India and Persia and has been around for hundreds of years.

2. What do you need to set up a hookah?

To set up a hookah, you will need the following items: hookah bowl, hose, coals, tongs and shisha. The bowl is where the tobacco is placed. The hose is what you use to inhale the smoke. The coals are what heat up the tobacco and create the smoke. The tongs are used to place and remove the coals. The shisha is the flavored tobacco that is smoked in the hookah.

3. How to set up a hookah

Now it's time to set up your hookah! This might seem daunting, but it's actually quite simple. All you need is a few basic items and about 15-20 minutes of your time. Here's a quick guide to setting up your hookah:

1. Fill the base with cold water to the fill line.

2. Add the desired number of ice cubes to water (optional)

3. Insert the shaft into the base and make sure it's secure.

4. Pour the flavored tobacco (shisha) into the bowl.

5. Cover the bowl with a screen or aluminum foil and make tiny holes through out and place it on top of the shaft.

6. Make sure the screen or aluminum foil is not touching the flavor in the bowl.

7. Gently light the coals and wait a few minutes for them to become hot.

8. Put the coals on top of the bowl, wait for 1-2 minutes for the flavored tobacco to get warm.

9. Put your mouth on the hose and inhale!

10. Add/remove/adjust the charcoal according to your need through out the session.

4. Hookah etiquette

Now that you're all set up, it's time to enjoy your hookah! Here are a few etiquette tips to keep in mind:

-Take small puffs and avoid sucking in too hard, as this will cause the tobacco to burn quickly and produce a harsher smoke.

-Don't let the charcoal come into contact with the water or flavored tobacco, as it will contaminate the flavor.

-Don't let the hot charcoal sit on the hookah bowl when you are not smoking, this will burn the flavor.

-If someone else is smoking, don't blow smoke in their direction.

-Never share a hookah with someone who is sick.

-And finally, always discard used coals and ashes in a safe place.
