Kratom is one of the most common questions we get at the counter. This guide covers the basics: what kratom is, the forms it comes in, how to read a label, and how Puff Love sells it. It is general information only. We do not make health claims about kratom, and nothing here is medical advice.

What is kratom?

Kratom comes from the leaves of Mitragyna speciosa, a tree in the coffee family that grows in Southeast Asia. The leaves are dried and ground, or processed into extracts. The main natural compound in the leaf is called mitragynine, which is why you will often see "MIT" or "mg MIT" on extract labels.

Is kratom legal in Texas?

Yes. Kratom is legal to buy in Texas, and the state regulates how it is made and labeled. At Puff Love we go further: we sell kratom only to adults 21 and older, and we check ID every time.

Federal rules for kratom are different from hemp rules, and the federal hemp changes coming on December 11, 2026 do not apply to kratom. You can read more on our hemp law changes page.

We do not sell 7-OH

7-hydroxymitragynine, often shortened to 7-OH, is a compound that occurs in tiny amounts in the leaf. Some products on the market are made with concentrated or lab-made 7-OH. Puff Love does not sell 7-OH products. If you are unsure what is in a product, ask our team and check the label.

Forms of kratom

  • Powder: dried, ground leaf, sold in sizes from single servings up to large bags.
  • Capsules: pre-measured powder in capsules, sold in counts from small packs to bulk jars.
  • Extract shots: small liquid bottles made from concentrated leaf extract.
  • Extract tablets and capsules: concentrated extract in solid form.
  • Seltzers and drinks: ready-to-drink cans and bottles.
  • Gummies and chocolates: chewable formats.

Extracts are much more concentrated than plain leaf powder, so read the label closely and follow the serving size printed on the package.

Reading a kratom label

  • Leaf vs extract: the label should say whether it is whole leaf or an extract.
  • Mitragynine content: extracts usually list mg of mitragynine (MIT) per serving or per bottle.
  • Serving size: how much is one serving and how many servings are in the pack.
  • Vein color names: red, green, white and gold are names growers and brands use for different leaf varieties and drying methods.
  • Batch and lab testing: many brands print a batch number or QR code linking to lab results.
  • Warnings: read every warning on the package.

Kratom is not approved by the FDA to treat any condition. If you take medication or have health questions, talk to a healthcare professional before using any botanical product.
